What is digital accessibility?

Digital accessibility is a principle that aims to make online services usable by everyone. To be accessible, a website must offer the possibility of :

  • To use voice synthesis and/or Braille thanks to navigation assistance software (particularly used by blind and partially-sighted people).
  • Navigate without using the mouse (keyboard navigation, voice commands, touchscreen or any adapted device).
  • Customise the display of the site to improve the user's browsing comfort (change colours to improve contrast, increase or reduce text size, etc.).

In order to be accessible, a site must comply with the standards in force, publish its accessibility score and provide a general reference framework for improving accessibility, in accordance with article 47 of law no. 2005-102 of 11 February 2005.
