QUATUOR AROD
BRAHMS String quartet No.3 in B flat major, Op. 67
QUATUOR AROD
DANIEL OTTENSAMER clarinet
BRAHMS Clarinet Quintet in B minor, Op. 115
For the Ottensamers, the clarinet runs in the family. After hosting Andreas in 2021, the Rencontres Musicales d’Évian welcomes his brother Daniel, principal clarinettist at the Wiener Philharmoniker, where he took over his father's seat whilst enjoying a flourishing career both as chamber musician and soloist. He joins the Quatuor Arod, "an elegant posture and natural expressiveness that enhances each page”, according to Le Monde – for one of the most accomplished quintets in the repertoire, moved by the dulcet expressiveness of the wind instrument and its fusion with the strings. Opus 67 brings to a close a triptych of string quartets which, despite Brahms’ fears, succeeded in breaking free from Beethoven’s influence. For more clarinet, return at the same time, same place, the following day.
